Purpose of the project: During the project the volunteers organize together a school visit day and an international activity day gathering 200 young people to our youth center all over the region. Volunteers will organize workshops for the young people. The idea is to bring different cultures to rural Finland, and to promote international activities to our local youth community in rural Finland. Volunteers work generally from Monday to Friday from 9am to 16pm (6 hours +1h for lunch). Evenings and weekends are free time for the volunteers. We have excellent outdoor facilities near a national park, surrounded by forests and lakes. In our youth center many activities can be done in the free time when volunteers want to be active. There are no villages nearby and the closest city is a 400€ taxi ride away. Prepare to spend three weeks in beautiful nature surrounded by a unique Finnish location!

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:
Accommodation is organized in a “volunteers house” near Metsäkartano Youth Center. The volunteer’s house is a traditional log house by a lake, with a kitchen, common living room area and showers and a sauna. Volunteers live together in the house, in different rooms where 2-4 people share a room. There will be altogether 12-16 volunteers. Food is provided by Metsäkartano youth center, either in our own restaurant (usually breakfast/lunch/sometimes also dinner) or by giving supplies to the volunteers to cook in their own cabin.
Application conditions and requirements for volunteering:
We are looking for MOTIVATED volunteers who can be FULLY committed to take part in the activity. We value equality and diversity in our work community. We welcome applicants from different backgrounds, such as people of different genders, abilities and members of different language, cultural or minority groups. We are prepared to take half of the volunteers from outside the European Union, but all applicants outside of the EU are asked to have a local organization supporting the volunteers. (Mention in application your local organization and the contact person there!). If you apply from outside of the EU, explain also in your application the visa process and what is needed for that (how much cost, how much time take, and which documents you need). Applications from outside of the EU can also be sent to international@name-of-our-youth-center.com. For this project we prioritize youth with fewer opportunities.
