The ultimate goal of this project is to create a community ecological garden, based on the principles of permaculture. As such, the volunteer will be required to participate in manual work related to the preparation and maintenance of the garden. These activities will take place exclusively in the morning, ensuring that the volunteer has free time after lunch to enjoy the cultural and personal experience provided by the project.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:
Volunteers will be accommodated in a renovated 500-year-old palace located in the historic center of Santarém. The residence includes a kitchen, private bathroom, dining room, living room, cinema room, games room (with pool table and board games), bar, and an interior courtyard of approximately 100m2. Travel, meals and health insurance will be covered by the organisation. The volunteer will also be given a weekly allowance.
Application conditions and requirements for volunteering:
We are looking for volunteers who: Are between 18 and 30 years old; Are motivated to work as part of a team, proactive and flexible; Prepared to develop socio-cultural, environmental and sporting activities and develop their own activities; Have an interest or experience in environmental issues, sustainable buildings and take part in activities for the community; Every participant should speak at least basic English and stay open to other people, respect their culture and habits; Participants will learn Portuguese according to their motivation; The project has a clear structure, but we are also totally open to ideas that may arise before and during the project, and we are also able to adapt the volunteers’motivations to our reality in order to better manage their motivations and get the most out of their experience and perspectives.
