Project name: Volunteering at a school, working with young people with disabilities

Purpose of the project: If you are a caring, open-minded person and would love to work with children with special needs – this volunteering project is for you! For 12 months, you can support the team at Tobiasschule in Bremen, learn and grow together with the students, and make a positive impact! Tobiasschule is a Waldorf pedagogical school. It has small classes which include children with special needs, such as disabilities, learning difficulties or other needs. The Waldorf education method is one that strives to develop its pupils’ artistic, intellectual and practical skills using an integrated and holistic approach. Therefore, the school has a lot of art classes, gardening lessons, students cook their meals together, frequently stage theatre plays and are a close-knit community. Your responsibilities include working with the students at the school, especially supporting teachers in the lessons, the kitchen and after school activities and organising your own small workshops or activities for the children.

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

Our organisation, NaturKultur Bremen e.V., will be the coordinating organisation in charge of all logistical matters.You will be accommodated in a flat or a house in Bremen with 4 other ESC volunteers. You will have your private bedroom and share the kitchen, bathroom and other spaces in the flat/house with other volunteers. As an ESC volunteer, you will receive health insurance, monthly pocket money for food and other expenses (266€ + 180€). Travel costs will be reimbursed depending on the travel distance (normally between 180-360€). 

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

In the beginning of your stay with us in Bremen, you will have a weekly meeting with your mentor to learn how everything works and you will develop your skills on the way! You will also participate in the On-Arrival and Mid-term trainings with all volunteers in Germany as well as a training with all new volunteers hosted and coordinated by NaturKultur e.V.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

You can apply, if you are between 18-30 years old (on the day you start your ESC), can communicate in English (A2-B1) and German (A2) or Spanish (A2)

Project name: Volunteering in a leisure time centre with people with disabilities

Purpose of the project: Would you like to make other people smile? By volunteering at the Freizeitzentrum at Friedehorst, an organisation that provides leisure activities to people with special needs and illnesses, you can become creative and give your best as a volunteer for 12 months! Your responsibilities include: Working with a variety of people: children, youngsters, adults, people with physical dissabilities in the Freizeitzentrum, a centre of leisure activities for the residents of Friedehorst Providing small activities for the residents, including own projects on topics that you are interested in Assisting the employees of Friedehorst in the implementation of events Planning and implementing events together with the other volunteers for the community of Bremen

Project name: Volunteering “Local Connections” with NaturKultur Bremen e.V., Germany

Purpose of the project: Are you an outgoing person that wants to engage with people and network? Have you ever had the desire to work in a fun, outgoing, creative and multinational team with lots of experience in the field of international youth work? The main Goal – to help us find new connections with other organisations in Bremen – such as schools, youth houses, initiatives and organisations in the cultural field. Tasks: Network with other organisations in the city and surrounding area, such as with youth houses, universities, NGOs, initiatives, the city council and potential new hosting organisations. Give presentations about volunteering and international youth work Organising city tours, local activities and projects, such as clean-up actions, workshops on your favourite topics and activities for the other 14 ESC volunteers in Bremen. Helping out with website maintenance, creating materials for publicity, etc. Develop your own project ideas and learning goals
