Project name: Volunteer in the youth office of AWO

Purpose of the project: Kreisjugendwerk of AWO Karlsruhe is a nonprofit children and youth organization offering non formal education and workshops to people in age 6 -23. Your tasks are: giving administrative support in the ESC and in international programs in the office, promoting and organising events, taking part to creative local initiatives, tidying and sorting the matierial needed for the projects. A confident use of computer and social media profiles is important. In summer holidays you can join the camps as a leader and team groups of children. You will also work on weekends sometimes, but you will have 2 free days afterwards. 

Number of volunteers: 1 volunteer between 18-30 years old (Only Azerbaijani citizenship)

Project period – 01/03/2024 to 28/02/2025 (52 weeks)

Participant profile: 

• Motivation in working in an office/computer and with children/youngsters • Knowledge of computer work • Driver’s license preferred • motivation is some phisical work, such as carrying the boxes with the material for the activities • Good knowledge of English and preferred basics of German • if you are an active and sportive person, friendly with children and able with the media, this position is for you!

Project name: Volunteer in a circus with children and artists

“Aktions- und Zirkusbüro” develops circus pedagogical offers in a park in the city centre, consisting on parcours spaces, dirtbiketrails and a beach volley court, a fireplace, patches, a clay oven, a play yard. Children and youngsters with or without special needs as well as educated athletes, musicians and artists are coming over to attend festivals and conventions, and the ideas of the children and youth are an essential part of the planning. Big and small circus tents and small frame houses are part of the circus area. As a volunteer you can get to know all the different projects, support the organization and the preparation of pedagogical activities, take part in the realization of the events and develop your own ideas and skills.

Participant profile: 

• Interest in circus and pedagogical work • appreciated experiences in circus disciplines or circus pedagogics or any other pedagogical art (no specific certificates or degrees required!) • Interest and some experiences in working with children and youngsters • Good knowledge of English and basic skills of German

Project name: Volunteer in Germany Inclusive Day Care Center

The integrative day care centre “Kita im Weiherwald” is located close to the forest but still close to the city centre. It welcomes 42 children from the age of 1 to 6. The main focus of the day care centre is the inclusive concept, which means that handicapped and non-handicapped children are part of the group. It is important that the volunteer is interested in the concept of social inclusion and to work with children with disabilities. The concept of the kindergarten is to support the children individually depending on their abilities. A various program for the kidsis offered: working with art and colours, doing sports, experiments and discovering natural sciences, playing theatre or doing handicrafts. Lunch and snack are provided for the childran and for the volunteers. The tasks will be: supporting the educators, helping tidying up after eating and integrating in the professional environment.

Project period – 01/02/2024 to 31/03/2025 (52 weeks)

Participant profile: 

• At least 18 years old • Interest in educational work • Interest in the concepts of inclusion and in children with disabilities • Some knowledge of English; basic skills in German would be helpful but aren’t mandatory • having a small pedagogical background • Open to get to know Germany and German culture, sharing an international environment.
