Long term ESC project in Sweden!

Location: Stockholm, Sweden

Name of project: Positive Solidarity Project

Hosting Organization – Posithiva Gruppen

Sending organization: “Common Sense” Youth Organization

Purpose of project: Posithiva Gruppen (PG) is a patient-led HIV organisation seeking contact with a volunteer who is living with HIV. All over Europe there are activists, organisations and networks who have similar experiences, challenges and goals. An aim of the volunteering project is to unite forces, and to cooperate in order to respond to global health challenges. Through this volunteering project we also aim to build bridges between people who are living with HIV in different parts of the European region. The volunteer will be engaged in the planning, facilitation and evaluation of both social and knowledge-based activities, such as weekly dinners, group activities for young people living with HIV, lectures, conferences and bigger events such as Stockholm Pride and World AIDS Day. Through such activities the volunteer will be given tools that can be used to combat ignorance and stigma related to HIV, which in a bigger picture is linked to human dignity and human rights.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

The volunteer will be living in Stockholm, in a single or shared apartment. Public transportation by metro, bus, train and tram is modern and efficient, and it is easy to reach the organization’s office by public transport as it is located in the city center. Dinner is served at the organization’s premises two days a week, and on other days meals or food allowance will be provided by the organization.

Application conditions and requirements for volunteering:

We are looking for a volunteer who is living with HIV. Posithiva Gruppen is an HIV organisation and we would like to exchange ideas and knowledge with a volunteer who has experience with living with HIV in a context that differs from the Swedish one. It is an advantage if the volunteer is active in an HIV organization in their home country, which increases the possibility to establish a long-lasting cooperation, but it is not a requisite. The volunteer’s social background, gender and/or sexual orientation is not important, and we encourage anyone who is living with HIV to apply.
