The project consists of 2 months of volunteering in the Flemish Don Bosco Youth Center. The aim of the youth centre is to create an enjoyable and safe space for youth in the city. Since early days this centre has hosted activities for everyone in the city, but most specifically those with vulnerable situations or difficult backgrounds. With this said, the youth centre welcomes youngsters from 12-25 years old that have an arrange of nationalities, religions as well as believes, which makes it a very international an multicultural environment.
You will be part of a very international team, as you will support and work together to create and deliver fun, sport, and educative activities for the youngsters.
Furthermore, you will also take part in Youth 4 Youths, which means that for three weekends in July you will join other volunteers in a special program tailored to make your time in Belgium educational but also fun. You will be exploring different parts on Belgium with the help of our instructors. The cities where we will stay during this weekends will be: Halle, Leuven and Gent, but we will visit much more.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:
Accommodation is provided by the organisation, you will join other volunteers in a spacious house walking distance from the youth centre. All basic needs are provided: kitchen, bathroom, tv, internet… The rent is included in the ESC grant. Cooking will be done by the volunteers, so you will receive a weekly budget (to cover food and household costs) and pocket money. A bike will be provided for transportation around the city.
Travel costs will be covered until a max. of 309€ all depending on distance and means of transport used.
Please note that for the first three weekends you will join the teams project for the training and cultural visits. This will be covered by 60€ that you might have to pay.
Application conditions and requirements for volunteering:
✔ knowledge of written and spoken english on an conversational level
✔ 18 – 30 years old.
✔ Culturally interested, creative, active and open-minded
✔ Eager to learn and share knowledge
✔Has some experience in youth work
