YOUTH IN CLIMATE LITIGATION
‘’Common Sense’’ Youth Organization launches the project called ‘’Youth in Climate litigation’’ aiming to promote youth participation and raise awareness in legal challenges on environmental matters. Also, this project will mobilize young people to be actively engaged in policy and decision making, equip participants with tools and knowledge to be able to advocate for their rights and involvement in the process of creating, implementation and intervention in the field of environmental law and further the implementation and enforcement of existing legal obligations stemming from international, EU and national environmental law.
The main focuses of the project are as follow:
- A lack of ambition and weak implementation of environmental policy in Central Europe
- Climate crisis with dire consequences
- A lack of awareness and underrepresentation of youth on legal avenues
The objectives of the project are:
- Raise awareness on the climate crisis, climate change litigation, legal tools and major threats
- Connect youth activists from developed and less developed countries and regions to form a strong network
- Develop advocacy competencies, communication skills with relevant stakeholders and strategic planning to implement successful advocacy plans.
- To ensure the involvement of young people in the decision and policy-making processes

The course is designed for people (regardless of the academic or professional status, and including volunteers) who are:
- Youth activists

The project is composed of 4 phases:
- Online webinars (potential date)
- Study session in Budapest, Hungary (potential date)
- Local actions (date)
- Evaluation meeting in Sumgait, Azerbaijan (date)
As a first phase, we launch online webinars and 3 webinars on 3 different topics will be conducted by professional experts.
The project is co-financed by the Governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.
