Purpose of the project: The foundation Alonso Quijano is a non-profit private and independent institution, the aim of which is to contribute with the integral development of the human being through the promotion of the cultural and educational initiatives, especially the ones which are orientated to the promotion of reading. Permanent campaign for the promotion of Reading with hospitalized children in the Mother and Child Hospital of Malaga. The project consists of the loan books to the hospitalized children. Spanish for immigrants. Personalized teaching of Spanish for adult immigrants residents in Malaga. Free particular classes are given by Spanish volunteers of our Foundation. International Cooperation “Books for the World”. Sending books to the various countries of Iberoamerica Journal Mi Biblioteca. Quarterly publication in paper form with a national and international scope that proposes an informative and rigorous approach to the multiple slopes of the library sector.

Project period – 48 weeks during the period of 01/09/2024 to 31/07/2025

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

Food: Volunteers could cook their meals on their own in their flats, they are going to receive 150 euros each month. Pocket money: The volunteer will receive the monthly rate foreseen by the Spanish NA, 150 per month on the first day of the month. Accommodation will be in rented flats shared with other ESC volunteers or Spanish people. They will be provided with standard equipment and essential household goods. and electricity, water, gas will be covered by the hosting organization. Local transport will be provided for distance over 2,5 km from home to office. 

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

We provide a linguistic formation with 1h30 of Spanish class once or twice a week, given by a Spanish volunteer in the Foundation. The coordinators will train the volunteers as they go along, as much in the Hospital as in the Foundation. They will guide and help them every time it is needed. 

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

Recruitment will be done taking into account the needs of the Foundation and the profile of the candidates. Requirements: – Being a legal resident in one of the EU countries, the Balkans, Eastern Europe, or Mediterranean area. – Being between 18 and 30 years old when your EVS project starts – Being interested in Culture and books – Working abilities with immigrants and children. – Working team skills and ability to be with other people.

All costs are covered by European Solidarity Corps
