Project name: Proud Volunteers for Solidarity 7 – volunteering work with children

Purpose of the project: Break cultural and social barriers through cultural exchange with children and the local community. Volunteering mobilities take place in public kindergartens in the beautiful city of Wroclaw, Poland. Volunteers will be responsible for supporting teachers and assisting children in daily activities, running fun and engaging activities about their culture. Working hours are 35 hours per week in host.org. + 5 extra hours per week to plan activities for local events to promote the ESC and the project. Polish classes are provided and take place in our office twice a week. We are open to hosting participants with fewer opportunities ❤ (disabilities, economic, geographical and cultural obstacles). Volunteers need to provide a clean criminal record in order to work with children.
Number of volunteers: 1 volunteer between 18-30 years old (Only Azerbaijani citizenship)
Project period – 01/03/2024 to 31/07/2024 (22 weeks)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements: Volunteers will be accommodated in double rooms in a flat shared with other volunteers (about 5 people in one flat). The kitchen and bathroom are shared with flatmates. Flats have internet access, basic kitchen equipment, clean towels and bedding sets. Monthly allowance: pocket money (150 EUR) + food money (550 PLN) + breakfast and/or lunch in host.org. + local transportation card for buses and trams. Medical tests in Poland required to work with children are covered by the project. Travel costs to Wroclaw and back are reimbursed based on the distance calculator provided by the ESC program.
Participant Profile: We are looking for volunteers who like children and are open to learning or improving their skills in working with them, not afraid of working with big groups, are responsible and reliable, motivated and ready to spend 6 months abroad, open to learning new things and accepting new cultures, open to learning basic Polish, creative and imaginative, friendly, flexible and helpful, speak communicative English (applies to the volunteer in a school), preferably have prior experience with children (scouting, babysitting, etc.), have a clean criminal record and are ready to be active.
Training during the activity: During the first week, volunteers will take part in training with a project coordinator. They will learn about volunteering work and flat rules, methods of working with children, safety rules, EU health insurance and a complimentary insurance, receive a basic useful Polish language vocabulary book, and participate in fun team-building activities. Within the first 2 months in the project, volunteers will take part in an On-Arrival training in Warsaw. Polish classes will last for 2-3 months at least and participation is required.
