Purpose of the project: The KiEZ children’s recreation centres Hölzerner See and Frauensee are located in the 594 km² national natural landscape Dahme-Heideseen. Both centres are located just outside of Berlin in Brandenburg, approx. 45 minutes away by bike. Every hour one bus is going to the next railway station. The nearest city is Königs Wusterhausen. Both KiEZe together have approximately 110.000 overnight stays of youngsters every year. Most of the groups come from Berlin and Brandenburg, but young people from the Netherlands, Russia and Poland also visit the centres. Hölzerner See as well as Frauensee are run by the non-profit organisation “g. Kinder- und Jugenderholung Dubrow-Dahmetal e.V.”. Besides accommodation and food, the centres offer an extensive program of educational projects and various recreational activities for children and young people including culture, sports, environmental as well as historical, health and tolerance projects.
Number of volunteers: 1 volunteer between 18-30 years old (Only Azerbaijani citizenship)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:
Accommodation & Food: The volunteer will be living in one room of an apartment at the respective KiEZ. Also, full board is given – just during holidays or according to prior agreement the volunteers will receive money to provide their own food. Pocket money: will be provided on a monthly basis. It is about 150 Euro per month. Local transport: The volunteer will be given tickets for public transport in Berlin when needed.
Application conditions and requirements for volunteering:
As a volunteer at the KiEZ it is an advantage to have a good knowledge of German in order to be able to communicate with co-workers and visitors. Working at the KiEZ requires teamwork spirit as well as the ability to work independently. Be prepared to work with children, so good communication skills are necessary. The volunteer should be open and willing to introduce his/ her cultural background to the visitors as well as his/ her own experiences in the field of youth leisure work. Computer skills are helpful especially supporting PR actions and preparations of fairs and events.
