Purpose of the project: Back in 2007, the organisation was founded by volunteer’s animal lovers, who started to shelter homeless animals at their homes and advertise them for adoption. In 2008, “Lesė” opened a proper animal shelter and since then has adopted over 6 500 animals. Organizations goals are: • Reducing the number of unwanted pet animals in a humane way; • Finding new homes for homeless animals; • Promoting the society awareness and stopping cruelty against animals; • Establishing an animal shelter meeting EU standards and creating an effective animal rescue system. Main tasks in organization are: 1. Activities in the shelter (taking care of animals, cleaning, and other maintenance work) 2. Additionally, we support volunteers with their initiatives (dissemination, searching for funds, promoting animal right etc.) The foundation of our organization is our volunteers who keep contributing their time, ideas, efforts and resources to Lesė.

Number of volunteers: 1 volunteer between 18-30 years old (Only Azerbaijani citizenship)

Project period – 27/09/2021 to 29/07/2022 (10 months)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

The volunteer will be hosted in a flat together with other volunteers in Vilnius or in a private flat. Each volunteer will have their own room. A monthly bus card will be provided. Volunteers will receive food and pocket money every month. Nevertheless, volunteers will have people who will take care of them during the volunteering project: tutor (from animal shelter), mentor (personal support) and coordinator of the project.

Application conditions and requirements for volunteering:

Basic requirements are: 

– Highly motivated; 

– Interest in animal rights topic; 

– Patience and willing to help; 

– Initiative (bringing up new ideas) 

– Positive attitude towards the work 

– Ability to withstand smells As a minimum requirement the volunteer must be self-motivated for the activities carried out at the project. 

It is important to mention that a volunteer should not be afraid of dogs or cats and certainly should know if he or she has allergies.
