Purpose of the project: The Hollenfels Youth Center, is run by the National youth service. The center is located on the site of an old castle. It gives children and young people (school classes, youth groups) the opportunity to participate in awareness-raising activities on ecology and sustainable development. You will contribute to the setting up of workshops around sustainable development, ecology and fair trade. As an assisting member of the team you will participate in the development of new activities in the different thematic areas. You will play an active role in implementing the hosting of groups, the planning of activities and projects and the animation of activities. In addition you will contribute to the development of interesting ideas allowing the future visitors of the center, to explore the history of the site in an interactive way. The center’s team is made up of permanent employees, who will support you and accompany you in your daily tasks.

Number of volunteers: 1 volunteer between 18-30 years old (Only Azerbaijani citizenship)

Project period – 01/09/2021 to 30/09/2022 (1 year during this period)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

As a volunteer you will stay in an apartment in Marienthal 15 minutes from the castle. This is a 5 bedroom apartment that you will share with 4 other volunteers, trainees and students. During the week volunteers have the opportunity to have lunch at the center’s canteen. Breakfast, dinner and meals on weekends are prepared by the volunteers themselves. You will have free access to public transport in the whole country (bus, train, tram). Most activities take place at the center itself. Shopping facilities can be reached by bus within a 10 minutes ride (municipality of Mersch).

Application conditions and requirements for volunteering:

Candidates will be motivated to attend non-formal outdoor education activities and participate in conceptual activities linked to sustainable development. They will have some ease of social contact and will be ready to invest themselves in their mission. Candidates must be resident in a country that is eligible for the ESC. Language skills in French and/or German will make it easier to communicate with the center’s target audience (children and young people) (i.e. safety instructions)..
