Long term volunteering project in Luxembourg!

Purpose of the project: The “Centre pour le Développement Moteur” is a school for physically and mentally disabled children and adolescents, from age 3 to 18. The school provides individualised education addressing their individual differences and specific needs. Inclusive education is also an important mission. Most of the 72 pupils are in wheelchairs and originary from different countries. The spoken language in the school is “Lëtzebuergesch”. The volunteer assists the pupils and the team in the daily tasks and the activities. He/she has the role of assistant to help pupils who are not able to work on their own. The general objectives are teaching by different means and/or offering activities to train the very basic knowledge of the pupils. The volunteer is also involved in helping for all special needs of the pupils such as eating and care. The volunteer is involved in preparation of seasonal events like Santa Claus, Christmas, Carnival and Easter festivities.

Number of volunteers: 1 volunteer between 18-30 years old (Only Azerbaijani citizenship)

Project period – 01/09/2021 to 31/07/2022 (11 months)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

The volunteer lives together with other volunteers in a house in Eisenborn. Each volunteer has a comfortable single room. The accommodation is free available for the volunteer. The volunteer gets pocket money and a food allowance for means of subsistence. The amounts are fixed by law in Luxembourg. The public transport is free of charge in Luxembourg for all users.

Application conditions and requirements for volunteering:

The project is open for volunteers aged 18 to 30 years. We have no special restrictions concerning gender. The volunteer should be a responsible person, with easy contact, interested in social work. S/he should be keen and motivated to work with disabled children and young people on a very basic level, which requires patience, initiative and creativity. Any volunteer’s interests and/or skills like music (playing an instrument) or painting are very welcomed. Understanding German and French will be very helpful.
