Purpose of the project: The National Youth Service, founded in 1984, is the national agency for youth in Luxembourg. It is a point of contact, information, counseling and support for young people and actors in the field of youth work. The project is part of the unit of “Support for school-to-work transitions” and offers young people that are currently not in any education employment or training program the opportunity to do voluntary work in a workshop. The workshop is located in Luxembourg city and participants can work with either wood or fabric (sewing). The main philosophy of the workshop is to upcycle materials that are donated and give them a second life. There are two designers working with the youngsters teaching them different techniques and helping them to realize projects on their own. There is a social worker in the workshop to support the youngsters in their daily life as well as giving them advice and empowering them towards an active life in the labor market or in a school.

Number of volunteers: 1 volunteer between 18-30 years old (Only Azerbaijani citizenship)

Project period  – 01/10/2020 to 31/10/2021 (1 year)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

The volunteer will live in Eisenborn, a community housing project of the National Agency. https://maisoneisenborn.lu   The volunteer will have the possibility to have lunch at the project during the weekdays. Public transportation in Luxembourg is free of charge. There are good services in Luxembourg city as well as between the different cities.

Application conditions and requirements for volunteering:

A degree in either social work or psychology with an interest in crafting or a degree in crafting as carpenter or sewer with an interest in social work would be an advantage. The volunteer would need to be fluent in English. Soft skills: openness, communicability, initiative, self-organization and teamwork
