Long term volunteering project in Czech Republic!

Location: Prague, Czech Republic

Project name: Volunteering in after school club

Hosting organization: ScioSkola Praha 11

Sending organization: “Common Sense” Youth Organization

Purpose of the project: There are several objectives of this project. Our school is part of a chain of alternative schools. Their approach is based on our three core values – Freedom, Responsibility and Solidarity. We would like for our children to have a chance to learn and grow up in an environment where it’s common to meet people who think differently, look differently, speak a different language or come from a different cultural or social background. One aim is to enrich our school’s environment with volunteers who will make it even more beneficial for all of us.We would like our volunteers to have a chance to experience an alternative educational program based on respecting children in their uniqueness, helping them become responsible for their own education, start actively shaping their lives to become active citizens of our community. At the same time our volunteers are expected to go through a similar process in learning and improving their skills and get support to discover and develop their strengths while working with children in the after school club, sharing their hobbies and interests with them, sharing their culture and getting to know one another. They will be asked to join children during their play time, offer them their own activities under school members’ supervision, accompany us at our field trips (both one day or sleep-over ones). Volunteers’ main task will be to spend their time with children at the after school club, but there are options for them to get involved in the educational process as well depending on their personal preferences.
