Purpose of the project: De Takel is a Don Bosco youth center for young people, 12-25 years. It’s a place where youths come together for all kinds of activities and socializing. The target group of De Takel consists of young disadvantaged people, refugees, minors… . This creates a very multicultural audience, with mostly indigenous youths and a large number of vulnerable young people. The youth center is for these youths a place where they can do ‘their’ thing: billiard, playstation, computer games, board games, hang in the sofa, sports… The main task of the volunteers is to build up a relationship with the youngsters and to gain their trust. In this respect, the volunteer is expected to accompany them during the activities of De Takel. More specifically, the tasks of the volunteers will be : Build up a relationship with the youths – Assistance, being there for the youths – Accompany the young people – Organize/Guide (sport) activities – Maintain the bar – To play games like billiard, table soccer, PSP…
Number of volunteers: 1 volunteer between 18-30 years old (Only Azerbaijani citizenship)
Project period – 01/02/2020 to 30/09/2020 (8 months)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:
During the service, the volunteers will have their personal rooms in shared students and volunteers house. There are max. 4 people living in the house. All basic needs are provided: kitchen, bathroom, tv, internet…. The rent is included in the Erasmus+ grant and will be paid by Jeugddienst Don Bosco. Cooking will be done by the volunteers. The volunteers will receive a weekly budget, to cover food and household costs, and a monthly pocket allowance. A bike will be provided for the length of the program and you will receive a train card for local transport.
Application conditions and requirements for volunteering:
The project is open for two (2) volunteers, by preference one boy and one girl. Some requirements for the ESC-volunteer are – strong English communication skills – strong youth work skills/experience – able to live/work as an independent person – strong intercultural skills – open towards other cultures/to have an intercultural experience – motivated and eager to learn – willing to work in an multicultural environment – have a proactive attitude – interested in sports (football) – interested in gaming and other PC games. – can speak another language: Arabic, Pashto, Russian
