Long term ESC project in Cyprus!

Purpose of project: After the positive results working with volunteers in schools the last two years in Nicosia , we decided to extend our collaboration of schools also in the town of Dali. Dali is a town located 40 mins with the bus from the capital of Cyprus, Nicosia, where locals are known for their strong cultural and traditional values. The volunteers activity will follow the schools timetable in the morning and they will specifically: Assist teachers during the lessons. Support activities like plays, sports events, celebrations. Support students in learning (art lesson, English language lessons, music lessons).Promote volunteering. Present and inform about their own country, costumes and culture .Develop their own ideas linked with their service and the school objectives. The volunteers will also spend once a week with ‘Idaliades’ a cultural center for old women. They will support on their activities (traditional handcrafts) and cultural events.

Number of volunteers: 1 volunteer between 18-30 years old (Only Azerbaijani citizenship)

Project period  – 01/09/2019 to 31/01/2020 (5 months)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

The volunteers will be accommodated in a traditional house, which also connects with the Cultural Centre of Idaliades, a women cooperation.

Volunteer profile:

Volunteers must be willing to undertake different kinds of work especially in non formal education. He or she should be sociable and creative and ready to get involved with children, patents, children with disabilities and the everyday events in the schools. Ideally, we would like to have a person that will be independent enough to have the courage to interact with people of older generation as well as communicate and learn a foreign language. Also, we would like this person to have a sense of initiative and organize different events in the center.
