Long term European Solidarity Corps volunteering project in Portugal!

Purpose of the project: This project proposal involves the participation of three motivated volunteers in the activity organized and implemented in Critical Concrete, in Porto, Portugal, eager to learn more about practices of sustainable living and social work. The host/coordinating organization is a sustainable project space for co-working and co-building, sharing culture, and engaging the surrounding community through educational formats, such as summer schools and workshops. The most emblematic example of an activity is the collective rehabilitation/rebuilding of one specific house for a family in need, in the frame of the yearly Summer School of Social and Sustainable Architecture. In the first period of the volunteering period, the volunteer will be helping Critical Concrete staff to organize and prepare this summer school through different ways: communication with the surrounding communities; logistics and organization, and participate on the refurbishment of our facilities with the team.
Number of volunteers: 1 volunteer between 18-30 years old (Only Azerbaijani citizenship)
Project period – May 2019 – May 2020 (1 year)

Accommodation and food arrangements: The volunteer will first have a room in the project space, share the bathroom and kitchen. If needed, we will rent a room for the volunteer in another shared apartment. The food is vegan in the project space, and we cook all together for lunch. The volunteers are responsible for their breakfast and dinners.
Application conditions and requirements for volunteering: These are a list of skills we’re looking for (it’s OK not to know it all, just tell us what you know and feel comfortable with): Fluency in English, spoken and written (Portuguese very welcome!) / Computer skills (WordPress, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, SEO, Google Drive) / Communication strategy (photography, social media) / Relevant field of study or strong interest in architecture / Interest in social science / Interest in non-conventional building strategies / Will to work with your hands / Independence, responsible, not afraid to ask questions, willing to embrace responsibilities!
